One of the items of training that I regularly teach is self-defence against a knife attack. In this day and age it is a useful thing to know! I use rubber knives in the Training Hall (Dojo) and I get the attacks to come in as realistically as possible.
Last night I had the students learning some new locks and practicing some old ones. This kind of session is enjoyed by all of the members. I use this to support attacks that are “up close and personal” such as mugging attacks and other street self defence. Great strength is not required just concentration.
Last Thursday Rick took a grading for Orange Belt (8th Kyu). Rick is a very focused man and it came as no surprise to me that he gave a good solid performance and passed the grading.
